Chapter One :Chapter 1

Around 10 a.m.

A red taxi pulled up in front of the Ou Corporation building, and out stepped a little girl followed by an Alaskan Malamute.

"Wow... this building is so tall! Tangyuan, look—this is Daddy's company!"

"Woof! Woof!" The Alaskan Malamute barked in response. His name was Tangyuan, given to him by his little owner, and he absolutely adored it.

"Come on... let's go inside!"

The moment the girl and the dog stepped into the lobby, they instantly drew everyone's attention.

The little girl wore a denim pinafore dress, her soft, silky hair cascading over her shoulders. Two sparkling butterfly clips adorned her head, and a bright yellow duck-shaped backpack hung from her shoulders. The whole outfit made her already adorable appearance even more irresistibly cute—enough to make anyone want to scoop her up and plant a kiss on her cheek.

Tangyuan, meanwhile, sported a denim outfit of his own. Plump and fluffy, he trotted alongside the girl, the two of them forming an utterly charming pair.

Whispers broke out among the onlookers.

"Whose daughter is that? She’s absolutely precious!"

"Look at those big, sparkling eyes and those long, curly lashes—she’s like a real-life Barbie doll!"

"And that dog beside her is beyond adorable. Together, they’re practically melting hearts left and right!"

Unaware of the murmurs around her, the little girl marched straight toward the reception desk with Tangyuan in tow.

The receptionist had, of course, already noticed the eye-catching duo. Before the girl could even speak, the woman leaned forward with a warm smile.

"Sweetheart, how can I help you today?"

This young lady is so beautiful and polite, even her voice is so gentle—no wonder she's an employee of Daddy's company!

"Pretty lady, I'm here to see my daddy..." the little girl answered in her sweet, childish voice.

See her daddy? Could her father be one of the company's executives?

The receptionist's curiosity instantly flared up. She was dying to know which lucky executive had such an adorable and beautiful daughter!

"Looking for your daddy? Then tell me his name, sweetie, and I'll call him for you!"

The little girl thought for a moment, then said a name: "My daddy is {{Ethan Ward}}!"

"What?" The receptionist gasped in shock, unable to believe her ears. She leaned in and asked again, "Sweetheart, what did you just say your daddy's name was? I didn’t hear clearly—could you repeat it?"

"{{Ethan Ward}}! My daddy is the president of this company!"

This time, she spoke loudly and even added that her father was the CEO. Surely, she must have heard it now!

The receptionist had heard it, but she still couldn’t believe it.

Ethan Ward, the CEO of the Ward Group—a famously eligible bachelor, unmarried and without even a girlfriend—was common knowledge across the entire city. And now, out of nowhere, this little girl claims to be his daughter? It was unbelievable!

"Sweetie, maybe you got your daddy's name wrong? Our CEO isn’t married, so he shouldn’t have any children."

The receptionist simply couldn’t accept that this little girl was the CEO's daughter. The only explanation was that she must have mistaken her father's name.

That made sense to her—after all, the girl looked about four or five years old. At that age, mixing up names was perfectly logical.

The little girl had expected the receptionist wouldn’t believe her. Luckily, she had come prepared. She reached into her little yellow duck backpack, pulled out her personal iPad, scrolled to a photo, and held it up. "Miss, is this your CEO, {{Ethan Ward}}?"

The young woman glanced at the photo and nodded hesitantly, utterly baffled by the little girl's implication. Who in this corporation wouldn't recognize what the CEO looked like?

"See? That's why {{Ethan Ward}} is my daddy!" the adorable child declared in her sweet, piping voice, brimming with conviction.

The young woman was at a loss. What kind of logic was this? Just because the little girl had a photo of the CEO didn’t mean she was his daughter. Besides, {{Ethan Ward}} frequently appeared on TV and magazine covers—it wouldn’t be hard to find his picture online. So...

She still wasn’t buying it.

"Big sis, you don’t believe me, do you? You think I’m just a lying kid?" The little girl blurted out when the woman remained silent for too long.

The young woman met the child’s gaze—those huge, round eyes fixed on her like perfect punctuation marks. She was unbearably cute! Would saying "yes" crush her tiny heart? What if she started crying?

After a moment’s hesitation, the woman replied, "No, no! I do believe you! It’s just... I’m still trying to figure it out!"

What she had almost said was, "This is impossible," but the words changed at the last second. The little girl was just too endearing—she couldn’t bear to hurt her feelings.

Hearing this, the child sighed inwardly. She had explained everything so clearly, yet this pretty sister still couldn’t grasp it. Maybe her IQ wasn’t up to par...

If the young woman knew she was being looked down on by a four- or five-year-old, she’d probably want to dig a hole and disappear in shame.

Clearly, she needed to spell it out.

So the little girl raised her iPad again, pointing at {{Ethan Ward}}’s photo with her tiny, delicate finger. "Big sis, look at this picture, then look at me. Don’t we look exactly alike? If he weren’t my daddy, how could I resemble him so much?"

When she had once asked her mom who her father was, her mother had simply said she didn’t know and left it at that. Back then, the little girl had accepted it without question.

But one day, she accidentally caught {{Ethan Ward}}’s interview on TV and froze in confusion—why did this man look so much like her? Then she remembered what the neighbor auntie had told her: boys take after their moms, and girls take after their dads.

Even through the TV screen, she could feel an inexplicable connection to {{Ethan Ward}}. Right then and there, she decided—he *had* to be her father!

The young woman studied the photo, then the little girl, and to her astonishment, realized their eyebrows, eyes, nose, and mouth were nearly identical—as if carved from the same mold.

When she had first seen the child, she had felt a strange sense of familiarity but couldn’t place it. Now, it all made sense.

Could this little girl truly be the CEO’s biological daughter?
